6th Ward aldermanic forum on mental health: Feb. 4

FEBRUARY 4, 11AM-1PM, Augustus Tolton Academy - 7120 S Calumet Ave

Join STOP and our Collaborative for Community Wellness coalition for our 6th Ward aldermanic candidates’ forum! We’ll hear from candidates about their plans for the ward, paying close attention to what they believe are the next steps from the Treatment Not Trauma referendum in the ward.

On November 8, 2022, community members pushed back against the City's history of divestment from the public mental-health services. They overwhelmingly voted that the City should re-open all of the closed public mental-health centers on the Southside. They moreover voted that the City should the send mental health care professionals to respond when people are experiencing a mental health crisis, instead of police. Now we need to ask candidates where they will take this.

ALSO: We have two other candidate forums coming up, one for the 5th Ward - info here. And one for the mayoral race - info here.
